Insurance for Renewable Energy Contractors and Consultants

Renewable energy contractors and consultants operate in a fast-growing industry and often face many environmental exposures. From the installation of solar panels on a private home to the construction of large green commercial infrastructure projects, renewable energy is a major component of the United States economy.

ALTA Risk’s environmental insurance products protect policyholders from bodily injury, property damage, clean-up expenses and other costs associated with environmental claims. Through our A.M. Best A- XI rated carrier, we offer several coverage solutions for renewable energy contractors and consultants.

Our Renewable Energy portfolio includes:
  • Solar Contractors and Consultants – From small home upgrades to large commercial projects, solar is a rapidly growing industry in need of various environmental protections.
  • Electric Charging Station Installation – An electric vehicle charging grid will allow electric car owners to travel further than ever before.  ALTA provides coverage for the creation and physical construction of the stations.
  • Geothermal installation contractors – Geothermal heat pumps are one of the most efficient ways to heat and cool a structure.  Becoming increasingly popular in the residential, commercial, and industrial industries, geothermal energy appears to be an environmentally sound energy alternative.
  • Wind Turbine service and installation firms – It is hard to pass a rural area without wind turbines as they’ve become immensely popular in windy areas around the United States.  From small projects in rural New England, to large farms in Southern California, ALTA can insure many of the industries that support the nation’s wind energy infrastructure.

Claims Scenario

A contractor installing solar panels on a homeowner’s roof accidentally damaged multiple shingles and failed to repair them prior to completing the job. Water began to leak into the home’s attic and caused mold and dry rot. The homeowner sued the renewable energy contractor for remediation expenses and damages. ALTA Risk provided coverage for this claim under the Renewable Energy Contractors and Consultants Liability policy.
